CURVY OOTD: COLORBLOCKING WITH ANIMAL PRINT

Hi Lovlies,

Today's outfit shows how to mix a bold print such as animal print with a bright color without looking overdone nor ridiculous.

The key is to mute down the bold pattern by taming it with a solid color.  The blouse is silk animal print which gives off a lustrious sheen. I actually went with a linen blazer because it is summer and that fabric will allow my skin to breathe and keep me cooler.

My accessories (necklace and belt) mimick the red color of the blazer.  Little subltle hints of color is usually ALL you need to make an outfit stand out and less ordinary.  I finish with some faux suede stone colored wedges detailed with gold studs.  The beige/borwns of the stone color and yellow of the gold studs mimicks the colors from the blouse-again turning the outfit into one cohesive look with similar tones.

Today's Saturday outfit is comfty and casual. The weather is pretty nice here in NY so I decided to sport some denim shorts. The whole outfit color scheme was inspired by my green statement necklace.

The blazer brings a preppy twist to a casual look. The addition of the green pearl embellished necklace adds a bounce of color. I continued the green with the addition of some real cute green patent leather flats.

Very minimal accessories. Just my CHANEL inspired quilted bright yellow purse with chain link detailing. As well as my cognac and yellow skinny belt.

OOTD: Colorblocking on Curvy Body

Hi Lovlies,

Todays outfit focuses on the technique of colorblocking. For those who are unfamiliar with what colorblocking is; it is the technique of piecing together different colored clothing pieces. This is a trend I believe can be reciprocated in all seasons not just the summer.  Colorblocking is usually done using really BOLD, VIBRANT, colors as you will see in my outfit below.

 Why it works:
The pink blouse and coral skirt are in the same color family with similar hues.  The color tones allow for the pieces to work cohesively and not fight each other.

Why it fits:
In the past, H&M carried plus size clothing however, I havent seen the line in any H&M I've been to in over 2 years.   The top is from the black label sub-label of H&M and is a size 12-the largest size it goes up to.  I AM NOT typically a H&M size 12 however because the shirt is meant to be worn loosely and somewhat baggy, I am able to fit it like a regular button down.  The only downside is I should have worn a different bra. That would have eliminated the gaps between the buttons :/

The skirt (sz large) has an elastic waist which, in my opinion, allows a size xl to a 2x the ability to wear it.  Because it is pleated and flowy, it doesnt cling to the thigh or waist.

The skirt is pleated lightweight skirt purchased from H&M for $17.95
The Blouse also from H&M for $12.95
The Cognac colored leather and fabric belt from H&M for $5.95

I decided to throw in a brightly colored turquoise statement necklace for contrast along with a matching turquoise ring.

Necklace purchased from H&M for $14.95
Ring purchased from ALDO for $20
Tory Burch rose gold colored thong sandals purchased for $115.

Just showing that big girls can definitely rock bold bright vibrant colors without looking like a clown :)

BARGAIN OF THE WEEK: INEXPENSIVE FLY AVIATOR SUNGLASSES

I dont know about you all, but I find it quite difficult to find really stylish affordable sunglasses that fit my face.  I have a very round/oval shaped face and almost always gravitate towards BIG round Jacky Onasis type sunglasses like those below.

I tried to get on the retro Ray-Ban Wayferer style sunglasses bandwagon like these. However, I found they were simply too small for my face.

Yesterday, while standing online to pay for my purchases at H&M, I saw these sunglasses.

What makes them HAUTE!
- The graviated lens
-The faux leather detailing on the top
-The high UV protection
-The caramel colored faux leather straps
-The unbelievable price....$9.95

These sunglasses DO NOT look like $10 glasses. They look expensive and in my opinion, very chic! Im so pysched to have found these.

You all know how H&M is. Go get yours before they run out!!!
