WHAT IS THAT-VELVET?

Here in NYC, we've been experiencing some inclimate weather lately- global warming if you will.  Whatever it is, no complaints on my end.  I am enjoying our 60 degree weather to the fullest. I was able to take some pics, courtesy of my beautiful coworker, at a local park.  I've been loving the wine and plum colors for fall and incorporated the different shades in the outfit below.

**MY BLACK FRIDAY FINDS**

As much as I look forward to the feast that is Thanksgiving, I get particularly excited for black Friday. Years ago, I used to be at the mall at 4am but nowadays, I hit the mall in the a.m.  On my list was a flat screen hdtv for my mom, pair of Prada shoes for my brother, and clothing for my daughter.  In the end, I didn't get much of what was on my list but I did manage to get some deals but not scores.  Below I compiled most of my purchases.

Aldo had 30% off their shoes so scored these Theysken's Theory ($495)  inspired 1/2 suede 1/2 patent pointy toe wedges for under $60.

The Theysken Theory wedges are in a patent leather to suede ombre effect while Aldo's version splits it down the middle.  I prefer the ombre but hey, for the price, I gladly stick to Aldo.

I always wanted a pair of metal heeled pumps so imagine my delight when my friend and I walked into Wild Pair shoe store and managed to get these with their BOGO Black Friday sale.

I've been looking for a wide brim hat for some time now at the vintage shops with no luck.  I'm really into the menswear androgynous style and in my thirst, I ended up purchasing this hat for $17.95.  Definitely not a score but a keeper, nonetheless.

I purchased a fur stole from H&M last winter and wore it with everything-on sweaters, blouses, jackets, you name it.  It was a given for me to get another one in a lighter shade especially when it was specially priced.

Holiday Party Makeup Series: *Sultry Eye Look*

Hi Guys,

The Holidays are here and I don't know about you, but it is definitely my favorite time of year.  We all know about the givens-family time, feasting on mom's turkey, ham, or pie. However, for me, the best part of the holidays are: the sales; the holiday parties, and the free range to glam it up whether by glitter, sequins, or makeup.  In today's post, I've managed to incorporate reasons 2 and 3 together and came up with this sultry rendition of a Holiday makeup look. I hope you guys like.

I love gold in any form including eyeshadow. I patted Mac's "Woodwink" e/s on the lid.  I cut the crease slightly with a dark brown pencil (best with black pencil) and blended.

Then I went over the creasewith Elf's amethyst colored e/s and blended in windshield wiper motion. Above that, I added the lavendar shade in the same motion.  On the brow bone, I added MAC's NW40 concealer.

White pencil to the water line halfway-instant eye opener. I added full top and bottom lashes for a more dramatic effect.

• Clinique's Perfectly Real Face Powder (applied with a fluffy brush) all over face.
• MAC's "Raisin" blush on apple's of cheeks.
• NYX lip pencil in "Natural" and clear lipgloss

I apologize in advance for the extra boobage *blushing*.  The dress is from ASOS purchased this past summer. I haven't worn it out yet, only for the purpose of this look.

Do you ladies like to glam it up for the holidays?

Buyers Remorse

So you guys know that I am somewhat of a shoe fiend. Whenever I'm having a bad day or week, the remedy is buying a pair of shoes. With that being said, I've been lusting over Jeffrey Campbell's Lita's for some time now.  However, my frugal ways have stopped me from purchasing these must have boots.

Well this past Sunday, while at Macy's, I stopped by the juniors floor on my way to the mattress department and saw these bad boys here.  They're the "Carnaby" by Steve Madden.  Clearly, a rendition of the glitter Lita's with the exception of a buckle strap.

 In all my....fiendness, I bought them.  Now, 3 days later, I have buyer's remorse. Why? Well, with taxes, the Carnaby's came to $136 whereas the black Lita's go for as little as $140.  I cant help but feel like I'm doing myself an injustice by spending nearly the same amount for the knockoffs. 

Now don't get me wrong, I love Steve Madden footwear as much as the next girl, but I can't help but feel that my Carnaby's are inadequate.  Needless to say, these are going back today. 

In preparation of my return, I went online and saw these boots by JC.  They're similar to the Lita but with an exaggerated wooden block heel.  I love that it's patent leather and ankle height but at odds with that heel.  I'm not sure how it would look on my foot considering I wear a 9-9.5.  The next issue here is, since it's on sale on this particular site, I can't return it.  What's a girl to do?

So clearly, I have a problem.  Do any of you find yourself at odds when it comes  shopping for shoes?

THE VERSATILE JUMPSUIT

As stylish as I may appear; there are days where I rather lounge in a pair of sweats especially during the work week. With that being said, I totally lucked out on this jumpsuit.  If sweats and chic were to have a baby, this jumpsuit would be it.

Wide leg, studs and shoulder pads instantly amped up the chic factor on this piece.  I paired it with an orange sorbet colored slub (thrift find) with waterfall lapels and my cheetah print scarf.  In order to bring out the browns from the scarf and slub, I added a cheetah print skinny belt and my tan colored Aldo studded wedges.  I finished it off with my Tory Burch metallic gold purse.
