I am so over winter although, it has barely begun. With that being said; Ive been taking full advantage of this week's bearable weather by bringing Spring to me. My work outfit below is a mixture of patterns, color, and texture and bold pieces.

METALLIC JEANS

I have been on the search for a pair of metallic jeans for the longest. So imagine my surprise as I casually browsed the isles and spot these!!  I held my breath as I perused the rack in hopes of finding my size.  YES! The last 13. I literally ran up the escalator towards the fitting room. YES, that serious lol.  Why?-It can be really difficult to find my size when it comes to trendy pieces.

THE LOOK

I had been waiting for the “right” look to wear my cheetah print bow tie with. The gold, yellow,bronze hues of the jeans would go perfectly with the print. Instead of a long boyfriend blazer, I opted for a short tailored one along with a classic button down white shirt. To bring out the cheetah/leopard print, I wore my ZARA pony hair platforms.

CASUAL LOOK

The main factor I look for in trendy and classic pieces is the ability to dress it up or down-versatility if you will.  These metallic jeans definitely have that factor.  Below, is my take on a more day time approach to the metallic jean.  Switched the black blazer  for a tan one, added a long cheetah print scarf and loafers.  The hat is definitely optional, but you guys know, I love mixing masculine pieces into my everyday.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and if it wasnt great, I hope it was restful one. This weekend, like every weekend, went by pretty quickly I must say but with some amazing points. The highlight of my weekend was seeing the Alicia Keys produced African American play-STICKFLY. For those living in NYC, please go see this play. You will laugh, cry and definitely relate to some topics touched upon.  For those visiting soon, purchase your tickets in advance for an outstanding display of art on the stage.

Can you guys tell, I reallly really LOVED this play lol.


After the play, my date and I fed our sweet-tooth by visiting Magnolia Bakery.  If the name sounds familiar, this establishment was made famous by several appearances on Sex and the City.  Then we dined at a Barbeque restaurant near Time Square where I had hushpuppies for the first time!  I must say, they were delicious!.

Fashion wise, I purchased a pair of metallic jeans! I've been wanting a pair for months now and found an inexpensive dupe for Zara's metallic jeans.  Blogpost coming soon!!

OOTD- Channeling my inner Janelle Monae

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

It has been forever since I posted a blogpost and for that I am truly apologetic. The new year has begun which means to me an opportunity to start off fresh. It also means to try things I've never tried, and to go to places I've never gone.

In terms of fashion, one trend I always wanted to try even before it became trendy, was the bowtie. I think the bowtie is the perfect accessory-think about it. It's feminine-being a bow and all, yet masculine because it is a tie. You can dress it up with a dress yet tone it down with jeans. I think a bowtie immediately says chic. In today's outfit, I paired my houndstooth bowtie with a long textured blazer with velvet lapels, classic white button down and a pair of shiny Pants/leggings.

I guess one can say Im channeling my inner Janelle Monae with this outfit.  Besides being an incredible singer, her style is immpecable to me.  I love her twist on mensware.

I am also rocking my natural hair, something my readers know I seldom do. Although my hair isn't brushed and my face is barely caked, I wanted to show you guys how I'd don a bowtie.  The blouse was initially tucked in, however due to the appearance of a camel toe (FAIL); I was forced to untuck my shirt.
