I know this blog is mainly geared towards fashion and topics of the like, but I come to you all with a heavy heart...

I have potentially lost the greatest man I've ever met (besides my father) over my senseless, juvenile actions.  One bad relationship in the past has soiled my outlook on men, more than I'd ever been willing to admit.  There's been times I've prayed to God to send me someone kind, genuine, and with good intentions NOT knowing that he was in my face.  As women, why is it that some of us overlook the man who treats us right and put us first? It's as if I've been blind to what I need and deserve.

My heart aches because I've hurt someone I truly care about-I've hurt him in a way that I'm not sure can ever be rectified.  It's weird being on this side of the fence, I'm usually the one getting hurt not doing the hurting.  I've been kidding myself telling myself that my feelings for him are lukewarm; its not until now do I realize just how much he means to me.

I honestly don't know what to do at this point...

TREND ALERT: Metallic Paint Sweater

Happy Tuesday!

This past Fall and current Winter, we've seen the introduction of various finishes on clothing-metallic finish, wax finish, paint finish, etc.  I must say that I LOVE this twist!  H&M, being the trendsetters that they are, for months now, managed to incite us with metallic finish sweaters, jeans, etc.  A few days ago, I spotted this awesome cable knit sweater with a metallic paint finish--most importantly IN GOLD AND FOR $9.95! DEAD!  I loved this sweater so much, I actually wore it twice in one weekend.

I love how from afar, the sweater appears to have almost a scaly fish finish but in closer view, you can clearly see the metallic paint finish.

Are you guys into the different finishes out there nowadays?

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Mine was wonderful thanks to a special man who shall remain nameless...for now ;)

During my lunch today, I decided to hit up the local thrift store.  I also added shots from this weekend going to one of my fave consignment shops-Buffalo Exchange.  Below are some pics of pieces I tried on.

I LOVE THIS SKIRT!-the blush pink color is so femine and the pleats brings back this nostalgic memory of my private school days.  The Best part-it's Jcrew and was only $5.99!!

I also purchased this coral 80's blazer-complete with the gold button closure and shoulder pads. It's very Spring and I cant wait to colorblock it.  $5.99!!

I forget what brand this skirt is but its ultra feminine with a peach color satin slip skirt with a tulle overlay.  Best part- $9.00

I couldn't make my mind up on this particular skirt. I had to call my homegirl a fellow blogger (her blog) for her input.  I loved the contrast of a mini skirt underneath and a longer sheer overlay but the extra "tier" just killed it for me.  I ended up NOT purchasing.

I placed myself on a budget (moving into a bigger home next month) so I've been shopping less and less lately :(   With that being said, I think I did pretty good on my pennies.

Have you guys tried thrifting-if so, what was your BEST SCORE?

Happy Friday!  I can't even tell you guys how ecstatic I am today is here. I have a Fashion Week event to attend tonight. I will definitly take pictures and let you all know more on my next post. Wishing you guys a great weekend!!

-Selena Gomez

Okay, so kind of random of me to quote Selena Gomez, but I do have a six year old daughter whose all about Disney channel and their stars so Radio Disney is a constant in my household.  With that being said, the words from that song definitely touch me.
Being a blogger and having videos on YouTube opens me up me to criticism, raves, opinions, etc.  The reason I do what I do is because I want women, primarily curvy to plus size, to realize that having extra weight doesn't automatically make you unattractive, unwanted, unappealing, etc.  I admit it, it does take great amount of effort when it comes to shopping, but that's about it.  Loving yourself is easier said than done, but I guarantee once you take the time to look good on the outside, you will feel even better on the inside.

In this post, I show my belly. Yes, that's right, my non-6 pack having, non-toned belly.  Why? Because ALL of me is sexy even the parts that need to be worked on.  By keeping it tasteful and tactful; I am able to play up my femininity and throw in a dash of sex appeal.

Few lines from the the song-Who Says:
"I wouldn't wanna be anybody else.
You made me insecure
Told me I wasn’t good enough
But who are you to judge
When you’re a diamond in the rough
I’m sure you got some things
You’d like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn’t want to be anybody else
I’m no beauty queen
I’m just beautiful me
You’ve got every right
To a beautiful life
Who says
Who says you’re not perfect
Who says you’re not worth it
Who says you’re the only one that’s hurting
Trust me
That’s the price of beauty
Who says you’re not pretty
Who says you’re not beautiful
Who says
It’s such a funny thing
How nothing’s funny when it’s you
You tell ‘em what you mean
But they keep whiting out the truth
It’s like a work of art
That never gets to see the light
Keep you beneath the stars
Won’t let you touch the sky..."

What do you all think about showing skin?

Hi lovelies,

One of the biggest qualms about being a stylish curvy and/or plus size woman is the constant dissapointment of falling in love with an outfit or garment and being knocked down some when you come to the actualization that said skirt, shirt, or dress is not made in your size.  This was my dilemma in finding a hi-low skirt.

Aqua Half Full Asymmetric Maxi Skirt
I first saw this style on my favorite online store ASOS by the brand Aqua.  I fell for the simplicity and straight lines and of course the fun spin of having a mini skirt in the front/side and a maxi skirt in the back-GENIOUS!  The style looked simple enough to recreate so I decided to utilized my DIY skills and try it with the only maxi skirt I owned.  I think it came out pretty well...

Okay, ok, I didn't exactly sew or do any cutting.  I simply tucked in the hem into the waistband. To add extra security, I added a skinny belt in a bright hue.  The fabric is quite see-thru and sheer so to make it more cold weather friendly and modest, simply add a pair of thick opaque stockings.  For some funk to the outfit, sport tights in bright colors- cobolt, magenta, mustard, etc.

I LOVE THESE SHOES!!!  They're the ALDO version of Theory's Theysken Wedges . What I love the most is the mix-one side is patent leather and the other side is suede relative to the hi-low style of the skirt.

My makeup is the usual- MAC's woodwink shadow, winged liner, Lashes, CLinique Face Powder, and MAC Lipstick & Blush.

I LOVE SCARVES!  They are so versatile. You can definitely manipulate them into a myriad of accessories-bowtie, ascot, bracelet, head-tie, you name it!  Today, I decided to style my narrow linen scarf into a cumberbun.  If you've been following my blog lately, you know that I have been incorporating bowties and fedoras (seen here and here) into my wardrobe channeling my masculine side. The Cumberbun style can be worn with a high-waist skirt, as a belt to a dress, used in colorblocking, help narrow the waist, etc.  In this particular case, I wanted a hint of  color hence the pop of blue against the black on white.

Would you gals rock a cumberbun-if so how?
