Weekend Recap: Fifth Avenue, Zara, Juicy, & more

Hope you all had a fun if not restful weekend. Mine was filled with a lot of walking-something us New Yorkers have become quite accustomed to.  Myself along with my sister, daughter and niece hit up the infamous Fifth Avenue shopping at Juicy Couture (for the kiddies), Zara (for us), and H&M (everybody). We also walked right onto a street fair on 6th avenue filled with....mmm grilled corn, funnel cake, lemonade, and several other decadent mouth watering, waist expanding goodies.

Below is a photo compilation of my Saturday.

Juicy Couture
This DJ amazed me with her skills, music choices, but most importantly, her capacity to DJ/Stand in those sky high heels!!

Talk about being waited on hand and foot! Complimentary virgin cocktails, pastries, bubbly water, list goes on & on...

Cutest children section...

ZARA...
I saw plenty of items I wanted but what I was really excited about is so many of their FALL 2012 pieces were DIY-able

How cute are these velvet mustache embedded flats!

DIY for sure! I love army fatigue and adding sparkles to it makes it even better!

Tried on these mint green pleated chiffon pants

Streetfair

It was hard taking better pics, it started to rain and there were truckloads of people in every attempted shot.

Sunday was certainly rest day. I channeled my inner domestic diva spending a few hours cleaning house, cooking, and most dreaded-laundry.

Now its Monday, back on the grind. Happy Monday lovelies!

Peplum Love

Ahh, peplum. We've been seeing this perfect cut practically everywhere.  With its fitted top and flowy bottom skirt, the peplum cut is the perfect way to hide a muffin top, protruding belly, or which ever abdominal problem area you which to conceal.  If you're busty, a stretched peplum top definitely enhances those two assets.  I wore another peplum top in this post.
Tip: I suggest to wear a fitted bottom for a more svelte silhouette.

Little Black MAXI Dress

You can never go wrong with a little black dress, more over, a little black maxi dress. My shoes actually dictated the the rest of the ensemble-accessories and all.  By the way, the puffy frizzy coif was not part of the 'look' but the end result of a extremely humid day *sigh* natural girl problems...

I'm loving this Covergirl Queen lipstick in "Powder Puff Pink"

Houndstooth in July

Houndstooth is typically a cold weather month print, however I just happened to find a chiffon layered dress in this manly print suitable for summer.  Although it is in a masculine print, the ruffled neckline brings instant femininity.  The light weight chiffon layer definitely helped me remain cool in the heat wave we were experiencing.

50 Shades of...Blue

Thursday! Thank god, just one more day. I'm really looking forward to the weekend. Nothing planned in particular but the fact that I have 2 days of not waking up at the crack of dawn nor putting together an appropriate work outfit during this heat wave thrills me.  Speaking of work outfit, it seems as if I've  managed to find all the blue pieces in my closet to make up this ensemble- my own 50 shades of blue, if you will

BEWARE: there is a fair amount of squinting and pouting in the following pics-that damn sun!

Weekend Escape

Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a restful weekend.  I had a particularly hard week and it was so gratifying being able to get away for the weekend, a beach getaway at that.  My guy and my mini me and I took to the shore, rented a little beach house and just enjoyed some quality time.  I made sure on the longgg train ride there, that I released all the work and life tension I endured, leaving room only for pleasantries.  Below are few candids from the weekend. I had originally planned to do outfit shots but was way too relaxed to even bother to put makeup on.  I hope you all understand.

STRIPES...YES I CAN

I've been on a stripe voyage lately, gravitating to this print on a semi weekly basis.  It's been said that big girls or at least top heavy women should stay clear of stripes-horizontal or vertical. Pfft to that.  I think stripes are fun and bring an almost nautical aesthetic to any ensemble especially when paired with reds, or in my case, pink.

Running Errands:  Peplum stripe top w/ white denim shorts. Magenta belt and sandals w/ bold neck piece.

Work Ensemble:  Semi sheer stripe button down paired w/ semi sheer maxi skirt

Specs:
Peplum stretch top-local mall; Old Navy white denim shorts, H&M magenta skinny belt, Target (dolce vita inspired) magenta flats; Gucci Bag; Forever21 pleated maxi skirt w/ mini skirt attached, Stripe horizontal and vertical top bought from local mall; H&M black and gold belt; Michael Kors rose gold watch, H&M statement ring, H&M oversized pearl statement necklace.
If you haven't yet, go ahead and try a black and white stripe top.  Pair it with neon bottoms-a body con skirt or colored jeans or keep it simple with white or black.  Which ever way you style it, you will prove that lame fashion "dont" wrong.
